2016 Royer Film Festival at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum


Featuring 1956 Academy Award Winning Actors 
The 25th Annual Paul H. Royer Film Festival is set for March 3, 10, and 17 featuring films starring Academy Award winning actors in 1956. All films are free and open to the public. The movies begin each evening at 7 p.m. and include free soda and popcorn. The film festival is held in the Visitors Center Auditorium of the Eisenhower Presidential Library.


Anastasia: Thursday, March 3
Starring: Ingrid Bergman, Yul Brynner, Helen Hayes

An opportunistic Russian businessman tries to pass a mysterious imposter as the Grand Duchess Anastasia. She is so convincing in her performance that even the biggest skeptics believe her. Nominated for two Academy Awards. Ingrid Bergman was nominated for four awards for this role and won the Oscar as Best Actress in a Leading Role. 105 minutes. 



The King And I
: Thursday, March 10
Starring: Yul Brynner, Deborah Kerr, Rita Morena

A widow accepts a job as a live-in governess to the King of Siam's children. Nominated and received five Academy Awards, including Yul Brynner as Best Actor in a Leading Role. 133 minutes.




Lust For Life: Thursday, March 17
Starring: Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn

The life of brilliant but tortured artist Vincent Van Gogh. Nominated for four Academy Awards, Anthony Quinn won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Leading Actor Kirk Douglas won the Golden Globe for his role in the film. 122 minutes.

The film series is sponsored by Robert H. (Hank) Royer, Jr., in memory of his grandfather who was an Abilene High School classmate of President Eisenhower and founding member of the Eisenhower Foundation.
