MHS Volunteer Corps Annual Meeting
The
 Memorial Health System (MHS) Volunteer Corps’ Annual Meeting was held 
on October 27 at the First Presbyterian Church in Abilene. Speakers at 
the event included emcee Doris Chaput, 2016 MHS Volunteer Corps 
President, and Mark Miller, Memorial Health System CEO.
The
 theme for the meeting was “Memorial Health System All-Star 
Volunteers.”  Those attending the meeting were encouraged to wear 
sports-themed attire. Entertainment was provided by Terry Chaput and Joe
 Sanfilippo as they revised the famous Abbott and Costello skit “Who’s 
on First?”. Phyllis Shaft led the group in singing of “Take me Out to 
the Ball Game.”
The
 meal was catered by Memorial Hospital’s Food and Nutritional Services 
Department. The meal was served by MHS Department Managers.
According to MHS Director of Volunteer Services Michelle McClanahan, MHS volunteers donated a total of 6,236.25
 hours in 2016, through September 30. The value of that volunteer time 
in Kansas is equivalent to $137,322.23. Since the inception of the 
Memorial Health System Volunteer Corps in 1992, total volunteer hours is
 156,924.50. The MHS Volunteer Corps is comprised of 67 active members.
