Abilene Kansas' Memorial Hospital Director of Food and Nutritional Services Elected to State Board

Matt Schlagel, Memorial Hospital Director of Food and Nutritional Services, has been elected to serve as secretary for the Kansas Chapter of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) Board of Directors.

Matt Schlagel, Memorial Hospital Director of Food and Nutritional Services, has been elected to serve a two-year term as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Chapter of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP), formerly the Kansas Dietary Manager’s Association. Schlagel has served as the Wichita District Secretary and currently serves as the Wichita District Treasurer of the Kansas ANFP Chapter. The Kansas Chapter is an affiliate of the national not-for-profit ANFP. 

As a member of the board, Schlagel will meet quarterly to keep notes at meetings to insure timely recording of the minutes and distribution to board members and will forward information to the newsletter chairperson for publication. ANFP works to position the Certified Dietary Manager as the expert in food service management and food safety and have continuing education hours to stay current with the latest food service requirements.

Schlagel has served as the Director of Food and Nutritional Services at Memorial Hospital for five years and has been employed there for six years. He has an Associates Degree in Pre-Dietetics, 20 years experience in military food service, which includes being a member of a military competition culinary arts team, and is ServSafe qualified at the manager level.

ANFP was established in 1960 and today has over 14,000 professionals dedicated to the mission of providing optimum nutritional care through food service management.
